Spend a full day learning and exploring weaving one-on-one with me at my studio in Het Wijkpaleis, Rotterdam. This private session gives you the time and space to learn at your own pace, ask questions throughout the day, and develop your own woven piece with individual guidance from start to finish.
Working on a table loom, you’ll learn how a woven textile is built while experimenting with colour, texture, materials, and composition. There is no fixed project to follow. We’ll develop the direction of your piece together, based on your ideas and the materials that inspire you.
We begin with an introduction to weaving and the table loom, looking at the basic principles of how a woven textile is built. We’ll talk about materials, colour, texture, and composition before choosing the direction for your own piece.
There is plenty of room for experimentation. Together, we’ll make some simple drawings, choose colours and materials, and prepare the loom. Before lunch, you’ll already start weaving and get a first feel for the loom and the process.
The afternoon is dedicated to weaving. With my individual guidance throughout the day, you’ll continue developing your piece, experiment with different techniques and materials, and discover your own way of working. There will be a short break during the afternoon to step away from the loom before continuing.
The aim is not only to learn how to weave, but to spend a full day immersed in the process and develop a piece that is your own. By the end of the session, you’ll have your handwoven piece to take home with you.
