Rag Weaving - Day Workshop

Join a 3-hour introduction to rag weaving at my atelier in Het Wijkpaleis in Rotterdam. In a relaxed and creative studio setting, you will learn the basics of weaving on a medium frame loom while exploring texture, rhythm, colour, and composition through textile materials.

There is no fixed design to follow. We start by talking about the materials, colours and ideas that interest you, and then begin weaving intuitively. You will have the freedom to choose your own colour combinations, fabrics, fibres and ropes, and discover the composition as you weave. I will guide you through different weaving techniques and patterns, while leaving plenty of space for experimentation and your own creative direction.

Inspired by traditional rag rug weaving, the workshop is a hands-on way to explore how different materials and colours can come together in a woven piece. With three hours to work at your own pace, you can take your time experimenting and developing your own unique textile.

The workshop is fully beginner-friendly and all materials are included. You will also receive a small weaving booklet with tips and techniques, so you can continue experimenting with weaving at home.

Please arrive 5 minutes before the workshop. I will meet participants in the hallway of Het Wijkpaleis and bring everyone up to the atelier together.

Cancellation policy

If you are unable to attend, please let me know by email at least 7 days before the workshop.

Cancellations made between 7 days and 48 hours before the workshop can be rescheduled to another date (subject to availability), with a maximum of one reschedule per booking.

Cancellations made within 48 hours of the workshop cannot be refunded or rescheduled, as materials and preparation will already be in place.

In the unlikely event that the workshop needs to be cancelled or rescheduled from my side, you will be offered a full refund or the option to transfer your booking to a new date.
